Some tenders need an industry registration on top of CSD. Know which apply to you.
Key facts
CSD gets you in the door, but many tenders require a sector-specific registration as well. Bidding without it means automatic disqualification.
Common sector requirements
- Construction & engineering — a CIDB grading (the level sets the contract size you may bid for)
- Engineering professionals — ECSA registration
- Security services — PSIRA registration
- Health — HPCSA or SAPC registration
- Many physical-work tenders also need a COIDA Letter of Good Standing and professional indemnity insurance
Note on CIDB
CIDB is only for construction and engineering works — service, supply and IT tenders do not need it. Your CIDB grade limits the value of contracts you can tender for, so grade up as you grow.
Check every tender
Always read the tender’s eligibility section. If it lists a registration you don’t hold, get it before bidding — or partner with someone who does.
