You can’t submit a government bid without being on the Central Supplier Database. Here’s how.
Key facts
The Central Supplier Database (CSD) is a single registration that every government buyer checks. Without it you cannot bid.
What you need
- A South African company registration (CIPC)
- A valid SARS Tax Compliance Status (TCS) — the CSD verifies it electronically
- Verified banking details (the CSD confirms these with your bank)
- B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit
- Director ID documents
How it works
The CSD pulls your data directly from CIPC and SARS, so those records must be accurate and current — mismatches are the most common cause of a rejected or “unverified” CSD profile. Registration is free and gives you a unique supplier number to quote on every bid.
Keep it live
Update the CSD whenever your tax status, banking, directors or B-BBEE change. A lapsed tax compliance status will show on the CSD and can disqualify you mid-tender.
