How to Log In to the CSD (Step by Step)
The CSD login page lives on the official National Treasury portal. To access your supplier profile, simply follow these steps:
- Go to the official CSD login page at secure.csd.gov.za.
- Click “Login” in the top menu.
- Enter the email address you registered with and your password.
- Click the Login button to open your supplier dashboard.
- From the dashboard, you can view your MAAA number, update your details, and check your verification status.
💡 Tip: The CSD is a free government portal run by National Treasury. Always log in directly through secure.csd.gov.za — never through a link in a suspicious email, because scammers sometimes copy the CSD login page to steal supplier details.
Can’t Log In? Common CSD Login Problems & Fixes
Most CSD login failures come down to a handful of issues. Here’s how to fix each one quickly.

Trying to Log In but Have No Account Yet?
Here’s the most common mix-up: many people search for “CSD login” when they have never actually registered a profile. Therefore, if you can’t log in because no account exists, you first need to register your business on the CSD. You cannot log in to a profile that doesn’t exist yet.
Registration is free on the government portal, but it involves linking your CIPC, SARS, and banking details correctly — and a single mismatch can leave you stuck on “not verified” for weeks. As a result, many business owners ask us to handle the whole thing for them.
✅ Quick win: Need a CSD profile fast and done right? Bekin Consulting registers your business on the CSD from R690 — we set up your login, capture your details, and get your MAAA number sorted.
What Is the Central Supplier Database?
The Central Supplier Database (CSD) is the single, official database of all suppliers who want to do business with government in South Africa. National Treasury manages it, and every government department, municipality, and state entity uses it to source and verify suppliers.
When you register, the CSD automatically verifies your information with SARS (tax status), CIPC (company registration), Home Affairs (director IDs), and your bank. Once verified, it issues you a unique MAAA supplier number. In short, without an active CSD profile you cannot legally be paid by, or awarded a tender from, any government body.
Who Needs to Register on the CSD?
In short, anyone who wants to earn money from government needs a CSD profile. In particular, you must register if you are:
- A company bidding for government tenders or RFQs
- A supplier hoping to be paid by a government department or municipality
- A new business positioning itself for public-sector contracts
- A sole proprietor or individual providing services to the state
- An NPO, trust, or co-operative seeking government funding or work
CSD Registration Requirements
Before you start, gather the following. Having everything ready upfront prevents the verification delays that frustrate most first-time registrants.
⚠️ Warning: Your details on the CSD must match SARS, CIPC, and your bank exactly. Even a small mismatch — like a slightly different business name or an old bank account — will leave your profile stuck on “not verified” and block you from tenders.
How to Register on the CSD (Step by Step)
- Create a user account. First, go to secure.csd.gov.za and register a user with your email address.
- Activate your account. Next, click the activation link in the email the CSD sends you, then log in.
- Capture your supplier details. After that, complete each section: identification, address, contact, industry, bank account, tax, and B-BBEE.
- Add directors and associates. Then enter the ID numbers of all directors so Home Affairs can verify them.
- Submit for verification. Finally, submit your profile. The CSD then verifies your data with SARS, CIPC, Home Affairs, and your bank.
Once you submit, the system generates your MAAA number almost immediately. However, your banking verification can take a few working days to complete.
Your MAAA Number & Verification Status
Your MAAA number is your unique CSD supplier identifier — you’ll quote it on every tender and government quote. The system issues it as soon as you submit your profile. However, an MAAA number on its own is not enough.
What really matters is your verification status. Government buyers want to see that your tax, company, and especially your banking details are verified. Therefore, always log in a few days after registering to confirm your status shows as verified before you submit any tender.
💡 Tip: Keep your CSD profile up to date. If you change banks, move premises, or renew your B-BBEE certificate, log in and update your details — otherwise your profile can fall out of verification and cost you a tender.

CSD Login Questions
To log in to the CSD, go to the official portal at secure.csd.gov.za, click Login, and enter the email address and password you registered with. Once you log in, your dashboard shows your MAAA number, your details, and your verification status.
The official CSD login website is secure.csd.gov.za, run by National Treasury. Always log in directly through that address rather than through email links, because scammers sometimes copy the CSD login page to steal supplier details.
Click the Forgot Password link on the CSD login page, enter your registered email address, and choose to reset your password by email or by OTP SMS. After you reset it, log in again with your new password.
Usually you can’t log in because your account is not activated yet, you forgot your password, or you are using the wrong email address. First check your inbox for the activation email; if it is missing, request a new one. If no account exists at all, you need to register on the CSD first.
CSD Registration Questions
Yes. You can only log in to the CSD once you have registered a supplier profile and activated your account. If you have never registered, there is no account to log in to, so registration is always the first step.
Registering on the CSD government portal is free. However, the process can be technical and prone to verification errors, so Bekin Consulting registers your business correctly for you from R690, including setting up your login and MAAA number.
You need your CIPC registration number, income tax reference number, a SARS Tax Compliance Status PIN, business bank account details with a bank confirmation letter under three months old, your B-BBEE certificate or sworn affidavit, director ID numbers, and an email address and cellphone number for OTP verification.
A MAAA number is your unique CSD supplier number, issued by National Treasury once you register. You quote it on every government tender and quote. The system generates it as soon as you submit your profile, although your banking verification may take a few more days.
Yes. CSD registration is mandatory for any business that wants to bid on government tenders or be paid by a government department or municipality. Without an active, verified CSD profile, government cannot award you a tender or process your payment.
